The Mark Tavener Collection
  






 Mark Tavener (died 18 October 2007) was a British novelist who also wrote for radio and television. 
His 1989 satirical novel In the Red was adapted for radio (with Peter Baynham) in 1995, and television in 1998. 
Further radio shows using the same characters followed: In the Red, In the Balance, In the Chair, and In the End.

******a black comedy revolving around murder, finance, and intrigue in the halls of the BBC. 
Despite this, it is the BBC that successfully adapted it for both radio and television.

A serial killer is on the loose, and it's up to George Cragge, BBC Radio's crime correspondent, 
to sober up long enough to catch him. The murderer, who calls Cragge to bid for adequate 
news coverage, begins his spree with bank managers, thus making him quite popular, as criminals go. 
But then he escalates to finishing off a member of Parliament and even makes an attempt on 
BBC Radio economics correspondent Max Parker--hardly fair, since Parker doesn't know anything about economics.
